ABOUT ME

I understand that seeing a specialist can be confusing and stressful. My approach is based on empathy, understanding and integrity. My aim is to understand you, your circumstances and to empower you with information as we take on your health journey together.

Qualifications and Training

I wanted to be a surgeon from the time I started med school. The prospect of helping an individual from an illness to treatment, to prevention and education was inspiring. I have a passion for helping treat, cure, and support the recovery of my patients.

I graduated from medicine at the University of New South Wales having completed my undergraduate degree with Honours. During my surgical training program, I trained at some of Australia’s busiest tertiary level hospitals in Sydney, Canberra and regional hospitals across New South Wales.

I became a General Surgeon attaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. I completed specialised post-fellowship training in Breast Oncoplastic Surgery and became a full accredited member of the Society of Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand (BreastSurgANZ). I have completed Master of Surgery (Breast Surgery) and Graduate Certificate of Surgery (Breast) from the University of Sydney.

Appointments and Positions

I am a Specialist Breast Surgeon trained in oncoplastic surgery offering expertise in all breast conditions with an interest in treating breast cancers, breast implant related conditions, breast reductions, and benign breast conditions. I also perform acute general surgery, laparoscopic general surgery and elective surgery for selected general surgical conditions.

I operate at the following hospitals:

• Northern Beaches Hospital (Frenchs Forest)

• Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital (Hornsby)

• North Shore Private Hospital and Hunters Hill Private Hospital.

I am a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney and a member of the ANZ Breast Cancer Trials Group. I am a representative on the Healthscope National Medical Council and a Medical Officer with BreastScreen NSW.

Teaching and Research

I am passionate about teaching and training future surgeons. As a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney, I provide further post-fellowship training to breast surgeons across Australia and New Zealand through the Oncoplastic Surgery II Graduate Certificate of Breast Surgery. I am committed to teaching junior doctors and medical students to help them shape the future for surgery.

I am committed to continued research and development. I regularly attend and present at accredited international and regional conferences. I publish surgical articles in peer-reviewed journals, review articles for publications and participate in various Breast Cancer Trials through the Breast Cancer Trials Group.

Personal Life

At home I have a passion for cake baking, bushwalking, and anything to do with the beach. My three kids give me a wider perspective in life and help me in many ways as a surgeon and clinician.
